In Italy, trains are always late. They are late even if they are the most expensive ones, the high-speed ones, promising you with their colorful websites that they’ll offer you the best service ever.
The announcer informs us with an enthusiastic voice that we have restaurant service on the train. We are 30 min late. There were other 10 trains delayed at the main station of Florence this morning.
We took our seats 20 minutes late. I tried the wireless but obviously, it does not work today (has it ever?). After 5 minutes we are already stuck in a tunnel. Technical problems they say. Other five minutes and the train master informs us that we are not moving. Thank you. We didn’t realize.
I came back for the elections. I came back to a sad country that pretends to be modern, and is not even able to offer a decent train service. In the last years, all the normal average priced trains were removed. We have only high-speed trains that are always late. On the website, on the first search tools, they try to cheat the citizens. It will search only the high-speed ones. You have to look carefully to realize that there is also other options.
As if Italians were rich.
I came back to a sad country where young people are without jobs and the trains are expensive and late.
The main left party is surprised by the elections’ results. Why did they not win? They are the only alternative to Berlusconi, after all. Yet they were not able to win. Are Italians stupid or simply tired of a sad country with no wireless connection, overpriced and always late trains?
